| Purchased in September of 1999,
this web real estate will eventually contain a complex fictional universe
driven by interactive storylines, characters that can be followed through
varied time spans, and illustrated maps for exploring geographic connections
between plots. |
| The original vision was described
to the author's creative writing group in this way: "On the splash page,
site visitors see the cartoon-style exterior of a post office in West Brunnersville
and a welcome message. Clicking on the door moves the visitor to the main
index page containing a table with the numbers 1-200 filling the cells.
Clicking on a number brings up a short storyline involving the character
who owns that post office box. Each sketch is interrelated with links to
adjacent boxes and town landmarks. For example, the story of Love Box
148 will have clickable links to boxes/stories for Aunt Gertrude, a
nurse from Sunny Sides, Antoinette, the auto dealer, the nondescript gal,
her cousin, the middle man, and five potentially-eligible gentlemen. Eventually,
visitors will also be able to click on a town map to tour the community
and discover more stories connected with certain landmarks: the Historic
Society, the West Brunnersville Library, the Food Additive Factory, the
Skilled Nursing Facility, the HyperDial Telemarketing Company, the Consumer
Advocacy League, a Grantwriting Consulting Firm, the Insect Museum, and
the Dispatch Office for Mistress Bitchtilda¹s Phone Fantasy Service." |

| Blessed with primitive flair,
the artist for this web site is only seven years old. In her first attempt,
Lizzy Bee combined collages made from magazine cutouts with crayon illustrations
to emphasize the conflict between virtual realism and artificiality (Want
to see?). Her new artistic methods using the AutoShape feature on Microsoft's
draw feature, some Adobe Illustrator, and then Adobe PhotoShop for conversion
to GIF format. Given the rigors of second grade, Lizzy invites professional
artists to take over illustration responsibilities. Galleries and private
collectors interested in purchasing Lizzy Bee's original artwork can request
a price list through the email address below. (Meet
the entire Bee Family.) |
